About Us
My journey with soccer in Spokane began when I became a founding member of
the Spokane Skyhawks, a team that significantly raised Spokane’s profile in
international soccer. Subsequently, I took on the position of boys’ coach at Central
Valley High School, where I maintained an impressive 90% win rate over an 8-year
period. This coincided with the Seattle Sounders’ efforts to establish a team for
their inaugural A-League season. I reached out to Alan Hinton to arrange an
exhibition match to promote the team, which he consented to. I gathered a
distinguished team composed of Spokane’s best players for this event. The
match was held at Central Valley in front of a packed audience, with Seattle
ultimately winning 2-1.
Later, a friend from Portland, Oregon reached out to me for assistance in organizing and hosting the Ghana Women’s World Cup team as they prepared for the upcoming tournament in China. Incidentally, the tournament was switched from China to the US because of the SARS epidemic. I enlisted the help of Teddy Mitalis, a friend from Seattle who had previously secured the Women’s National Championship with the Hirbanian Saints, for the exhibition game. The match took place at University High School and ended in a 1-1 draw. I accompanied the team back to Tigard, Oregon, and participated in several of their training sessions.
After my involvement, Ben Koufie, the Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, approached me with an offer to manage the team upon their return from the tournament. Although I was tempted by this opportunity, I ultimately declined due to family obligations.
Shortly thereafter, I was contacted by Osam Duodo, the coach of the national men’s soccer team of Ghana, who offered me a role as his foreign-based player assessor. In this capacity, I was tasked with monitoring top Ghanaian internationals playing worldwide, gathering pertinent information, and providing my analysis on each player for selection purposes. I presented this information to him to aid in determining which players to invite to national training camps.
